As I have worked with the Parks department under Henry Stern I have received
one of his "Handles", the little nametags that everyone one around him
wears. Fortunately it has not included the humiliation quotient that he
applies to his bureaucratic underlings, names such as "Frogman" and I can't
remember what embarrassing appellations. As I had done some stone carvings
for Central Park I requested "Chiseler" but he felt the double entendre was
too much so I got stuck with "Carver" which I never much liked. The last
name we agreed upon was "Lacunae" which, it seems to me, describes much of
my memory these days, lots of little missing parts.
