Microsoft, does have a monopoly.

A monopoly is:

Exclusive control by one group of the means of producing or selling a
commodity or service.

A monopoly is:

A company or group having exclusive control over a commercial activity.

Exclusive means:

Excluding or tending to exclude: exclusive barriers.

Not divided or shared with others.

Micro$oft is a monopoly.

Micro$oft created the barriers to entry by:

1. Forcing PC and other manufactures to exclusively license their
   products ONLY.

2. Penalized companies who offered competitive products.

3. By writing operating and application code (e.g. DLLs, functions
and browsers) that would conflict with competitive products.

4. By giving away browser software to eliminate/reduce possible
   competition.

5. By buying competitive products and retiring the products.

6. Forcing corporations to license desktop application.

7. By giving away desktop applications when the Backend (Microsoft
  Back Office) is purchased.

All of the above are anti-competitive tactics. These tactics have nothing
to do with general competitive practices.

Need more examples?
