I had a problem like Mr. K's, and Norton Disk Doctor fixed it! It's possible
that Norton was using an image (I think that by default it makes one after
every defrag it does), but it might have just been getting its information
from the second FAT.
As Mr. G. and Mr. Symantec both say, don't install Norton to try this. When
you run the Norton CD, it will give you an option to run the emergency
programs directly from the CD itself.
My old friend Mr. Symantec also says not even to run Windows until the problem
is cleared up, since with almost anything Windows does you'll be taking the
chance of the swapfile overwriting something you need. Unless you have it on
a separate partition, or whatever.
Thank you.
