Thanks to all who made a suggestion on this one:
There is no "MIDI" slider on the expanded volume program bar, there is an "
synthesizer balance" slider -is this the same as midi? in any event all are
on or not muted. Midi sounds also do not pay thru IE or Netscape. BUT I have
been able to get them thru Realplayer basic7. I'm beginning to wonder if a
DLL or something like that has been deleted or changed.
Additional advice would be most welcome

| I have seen this many times. Nearly always, either some sound
| program has muted the midi sounds or lowered the volume on midi
| sounds. You should have a speaker icon in your tray, lower right
| hand corner of WIndows desktop. Double click on this icon and
| check to see if MIDI is not muted and the volume has not been
| turned down.
