You are quite right. Most tropical  cultivated fruits are closer to their
wild counterparts than temperate climate fruits..
Morn Thong durians are the most selected, with small seeds and much flesh.
Wilder durians have bigger seeds and not so much flesh. You find quite wild
durian in Sri Lanka and Indonesia, but some Thai varities are also quite
wild (Kop, Nam Khao, Gradoom).
Cempedak is the wild and smaller ancestor of Jackfruit. It tastes even
better.
Don't worry about technical parameters such as  fiber contents, just eat the
ones you like the most.(Just an advice, not an order!)
