When I attempt to boot after formatting, using the /s option, the
machine hangs right after verifying dmi pool data. It displays 'LI' and
that's it.
I deleted existing partition using fdisk (DOS) prior to formatting.
Is the boot sector messed up?
Is recovery possible using DOS fdisk or not?
I no longer have the original linux root/boot disks otherwise I would
have tried the linux version of fdisk.

Hi,
Try FDISK using the /MBR switch, to overwrite the master boot record, and
see if that helps.
FDISK /MBR
