I intentionally did not take Spanish because of the prejudice we had in
growing up "Anglo"(gringo?) in San Santonio. I took a year of French in
college and doctoral French at UT Austin. I have regretted andd paid for this
many times. But geographically we are isolated compared to people in Europe
or the Middle East.
