I dont understand why someone posted that the Mayo clinic newsletter
stated that we can have Amaranth, buckwheat, etc...
Here is their statement that I copied and pasted:
Grains/grain products to avoid: Amaranth* (Caribbean and Asian seed)
Barley (including barley malt)
Buckwheat* (Russian seed)
Bulgur (Middle Eastern wheat)
Groats (crushed barley, buckwheat or oats)
Kamut (Egyptian forerunner of wheat)
Kasha (roasted buckwheat)
Millet** (native to Asia and Africa)
Oats
Quinoa* (native to South America)
Ragi**
Rye
Sorghum** (also called Milo)
Spelt (native to Southern Europe)
Teff** (native to North Africa)
Triticale (hybrid of wheat and rye)
Wheat (couscous, durum, farina graham, matzo semolina, tabbouleh)
*These grains may be gluten free as grown, but during processing may become
contaminated by gluten containing grains.
**Closely related to corn, however, significant studies have not been
carried out on these grains. It is best to avoid them.
