Ooops. Sorry folks, an aside to a fellow Columbia grad.... I have my own
painful memories. I suffered through a number of presentations at Stern's
hands. It was one of the most negative experiences I have had in the
preservation field. 100X worse than a Council Chamber of octagenarians
parading around with "Don't tread on me" banners protesting landmark
designation.

It was after graduation that I learned how an architecture student fantasized
about how to get through irrational, arrogant, vicious, etc etc critiques. It
was on a website managed by a Harvard (? Yale?) architecture student and was
called the "Blowfish Defenses." It was hilarious.

Tell me, you architects out there.... does this happen often enough to be
regarded as a typical "trial by fire" for all aspiring architects. Maybe us
thin-skinned HP program members just weren't prepped on the traditions of an
allied profession...

Unfortunately, the guy must have graduated (or dropped out) because I have
searched for it since and can't find it, or I would pass it along.

Mary
