I have a client with a 5 station Win NT based network. One of the stations
consistently drops its' connection. It works for periods up to 6 hours and
then the connection simply disappears on this one machine only. Basically
the same programs are run on the rest of the clients. In order to reconnect
the machine must be rebooted. The clients are a mixture of Win95 and Win98
(the bad connection is Win98). The network is utilizing coaxial cable and
NetBEUI as its only protocol. Termination is fine as the machine beyond the
problem one consistently connects and remains connected. The machine that
was originally at this connection worked fine. The T-connector has been
changed on the problem machine as well as the NIC card and this has had no
effect. The NIC card is an Acer ALN-201 card. It seems the problem is with
Win98 but it is a simple installation. Client for Microsoft networks,
NetBEUI and the network card are the only installed components. File and
print sharing services are not being used. Access is share level. Any
ideas??? Thanks in advance.
