Thanks for all the replys!
As it turns out, the lock was not for the case. The case pulled off from
the front which I found out after inadvertently yanking on the thing.
Inside, I was confronted with a bit of a mess. A scsi card was found laying
inside. Several ribbon cables were unconnected, and a hard drive was
sliding around loose.
Several hours later and after receiving numerous messages from the monster
inside stating that the "configuration is not recognized, please run eisa
configuration utility " (?), I finally got the 'puter running. I kept
swapping cards around untill the "monster" was satisfied with the setup.
The only casualty is a failed hard drive. Interesting is the CD disc
player. It only plays music and is not recognized by the os as a drive at
all. I didn't know that such a thing was made. My son says "Boy, is that
dumb!"
I still can't figure out the brand. The only logo on the case is an "Intell
486 Microcompter Inside"
sticker. I can surmise from the inside that it's German made. Well,
something to do for the future...... and, what am I going to so with a 5.25
inch floppy?
