Ever touch a black chip on an AGP video card while it's running? Those
can get pretty hot. I accidentally touched one on a machine I thought a
student had turned off and it burned my fingertip and also blew the card
(not an explosion, but it shorted it out and it never worked again).
BTW...in answer to Larry's question: All K7s should run below 50 degrees
Celsius and above 70C is considered a destructive temperature although
Athlons are very resistant to heat and can survive 80C for short periods of
time. See this excellent PDF document for a full discussion of thermal
issues for Socket A processors (a table shows 70C as the maximum plate
temperature for the CPU):
