Hi those that may have an answer for me,
I have an ABIT BX6, non-R2 with a PII233 and 128PC100 memory. I am looking
to finally upgrade the processor to something faster, now that they are
cheaper. That was the plan when I put this system together. Now 600mz
processors are in the $200 range as opposed to $600. According to ABIT's
site this board doesn't support Coppermine processors, however I have read
that they have been used with success in the ABIT newsgroup. I have been
thinking to just go with the original 600mz 512cache processor, as that is
for sure compatible. The cost isn't that much of a difference. Would I
expect to see any real noticeable improvement with a 600E vs the 600 512 at
100FSB? I realize that I would have to probably use a slocket adapter to
make it work. I guess if there is a question in this, it would be, what is
my best option to run a 600mz processor on this board? I will only use a
boxed processor, not OEM.
Thanks for any input, or added confusion ;)
