I've read many postings that state that when you are first diagnosed
with CD, that you may also suffer from lactose intolerance, and it would
be wise to avoid dairy for possibly the first year after diagnosis. I
have definately noticed a problem after ingesting dairy, that I was not
aware of before my CD diagnosis 3 months ago. (Or maybe it was there all
along, but masked along with all the other CD symptoms!) My question is,
would it be safe/wise to use lactaid milk or use lactose pills during
this first year, or would it be best to avoid those items too? I really
don't know anything about lactose intolerance or lactose pills. How do
lactose pills work? What exactly do they do? Is this something you take
when planning to ingest a lactose containing product, or something that
is taken on a daily basis regardless? ANY info you could supply me with
on this subject would be greatly appreciated!
