Thanatos: Undercurrents of Sadness

Last weekend the best friend of my son's friend (who we treat in our house as
a second son), establishing that the subject person is somewhat removed from
our family, a year younger than my son, a member of the youth community,
someone I had never met, died suddenly. Story is the kid had a virus and was
running a very high temperature so his mother put him in a tub of cold water
and while she was on the phone to call emergency services his heart stopped,
he went unconsious, and drowned. I've been bothered by this all week. It has
smoldered in the background of my business conversations and adventures and
keeps coming to consciousness during my solitary commutes.
