I should correct myself...it has bronze powder as its pigment, not gold
dust.  I have to remember the labels more closely; I just recalled that it
had metal for the pigment and presumed the metal.  On the plus side, it
should be less expensive than gold dust.  On the bad side, I'll bet it's
still expensive even in bulk.<

These are common metallic pigments, and some are actually colored aluminum.
We have used these pigments in our clear waterborne polyurethane coatings
to approximate gold leaf appearance as well as gold terra cotta glazes.
It's a fair approximation, and no, these pigments aren't actually all that
expensive (particularly compared with something like Cobalt we need to use
for certain blues).
