Most legumes contain neurotoxins of some kind.  A recent NOVA (PBS) program
about Altzheimer's pointed out that the two most closely related disorders
(one in Guam and one in India) were both proved to be caused by eating beans
(a Cycad in Guam and a pea in India).

Other beans produce a large variety of toxins including cynogens, vicine,
covicine , isourmil and others far too numerous to mention.
