In a kitchen renovation five years ago, I took out the 4x4 stud for a door
buck, hidden since my apartment house was built in 1922 (designed by Rosario
Candela for Michael Paterno). On it, someone - the carpenter? - had written:
"rouge rouge rouge Penn Pennsylvania rouge".

Any ideas?

PS Any good web-source for those plastic "drop-in" hatch covers - say, up to
12"x12" or 18"x18"?
