I'm a parent of a 5 year old little boy. I joined this list to see into
the future so to say. If I've asked a medical question of the group I'll get
a straight medical answer back based on their personal experience. These off
topic threads are not always as fascinating to me as the participants,
although at times they can get so funny I need to catch my breath from
laughing. The show me the humanness and not the disease of the participants,
which I hope Alex ends up with. All acknowledge their CP or disability, but
the intelligence shines through, even if they are typing with a stick. Yes,
in the future I want Alex to be able to expound on the civil war (although
he'll do better discussing it with his dad or I'll send him here) and not
just CP. And despite all the joking and teasing I see drugs and alcohol being
a danger to look out for as a carathatisis to relieve Alex's being
uncomfortable in a non disable world. I say leave things as they are,
everyone make an effort to change the subject line when appropriate and thank
you for sharing your lives and thoughts. I may be a scary though that Alex
will turn out like many of you but I hope so with all my heart.
Joanne
