Since the moderators allowed your post, I presume it is ok to respond. From the
little bit of playing around I did last year, it appears you will need to
configure X using XF86config. Here is the url that explains it in detail:

The parameters to limit your virtual desktop to fit the display are described
here. BTW, some people LIKE the 'larger' desktop for different reasons. Other
subject experts may offer you more guidance. If you don't enjoy or want to mess
with editing Linux config files, you may want to try Corel Linux - it does
everything for you and makes the desktop look like (Microsoft)Windows. I have it
running on one of my drives right now. If the hardware is there to connect to
the 'net, it will automagically configure the network, TCP/IP, browser. All you
need to do is remember the password to log in.
