Bob et al:

This list is an open expression of diverse options and ideas.

My suggestion to everyone:

If you are not satisfied with the nature or level of conversations in
process, then start a new conversation. This discussion forum is NOT
limited to one or two conversations at one time. Subscribers are free to
discuss a wide variety of topics simultaneously.

Rather than complain about a particular topic or person, take the dialog
in the direction YOU choose.

For example, I very rarely participate in many of the discussions threads
presented. That is ONLY because I am more interested in Chomsky's work
related to linguistics. I find many of Chomsky's ideas regarding the
"language in the service of propaganda" to be very insightful in many of
the posts made to this list. The propaganda system, the relationship of
this system to powerful elite and the responsibility of intellectuals are
things we need to be discussed in great detail.

This discussion forum is not devoted to any particular niche within the
scope of Chomsky's oeuvre, but instead welcomes contributions on any
aspect of the full range of Chomsky's contribution to contemporary
political stance and linguistic scholarship.

Things to remember:
-------------------

1. Many people on this list may have differing opinions from your own.
   That is O.K.

2. Try to be helpful with your comments.

3. Treat people as you want to be treated. Don't be afraid to go
"off-line" and have a private conversation/arguments with those that
you may not agree with. Bring the important facts/outcomes back to the
   list (minus the personal attacks).

4. All posts are archived and accessible to the entire world. When you
write something it becomes a matter of permanent history of the
   Internet.
