Mr. Science, my husband, the physicist, suggests a first possibility is
movement by water, i.e. flooding and asks, "Are you sure nobody else hasn't
been in during the interim?"  Metal-lined, but primarily wood, which
floats...?  I take the crypt is nowhere near known seismic activity?  (I'm
in California...:)  Is it above or below ground level?   Gayle
