That sounds like the one I remember,. There may have been two next door to
each other in the same block. The place looked unchanged and the guys there
still wrote up your purchase on a paper bag. As a newcomer to New York
(back then), I noticed that in this city which claims to be so modern,
human customs seemed to be more old-fashioned than any other American city
of my experience.
