Hello

I've just reformatted a hard drive and encountered a problem I've never seen
before. Before I give you any further details, I'd like to point out that
the drive is quite new and I've had no problems with it, until now! The HD
is a Fujitsu 6.4 gig.

After the format I booted from a boot disk and found the HD and CDRom OK.

Then I began to install W98 this is what happened:

Scan disk ran OK

Then it got to:

Scanning system registery
Coppying files needed for Windows setup

Then it stalls for several minutes, then I get the warning:

Attention: A serious disk error has occured while writing to C.
Retry (r)?_

Then when I hit 'r' the system freezes.

I have since run Fdisk and formatted it several times, but the problem
persists. I suspect that the HD is at fault, but has never shown any
symptoms of HD failure prior to this.

Probably I need to run a Low Level format.

Any advise will be appreciated

Mick
