Hello,
I'm not a network administrator or IT professional, but I have owned 3
Western Digital hard drives. My first one was a massive 1.0GB for my
486/50. The second one was a 10.2GB for my AMD K6-2 350MHz, and my latest
one is the one I'm using now - a 20.5GB 7200 RPM for my Pentium III 800.
I've had just about no problems with these drives - the only problems I
had was some bad clusters on my 1GB. They were marked permanently bad, so
I had about 3MB of unusable space. I don't know what caused that, but I
haven't had any problems with any of my others.
I've heard it rumored from various magazines and sites that while Western
Digital was the king of hard drives for a while, IBM is re-taking it's
reign. Their drives are supposed to be top-notch now. I think I also
heard that Quantum is good.
