I avoid casien and all casienates. I also avoid whey as well. I'm still not
too clear on the exact meaning of Lactose Intolerance. Obviously, it includes
lactose, but I always thought that it included anything that is derived from
milk. Maybe I have more than just lactose intolerant. Anyway, I hope that
someone on the list will be able to give us a clear definition of Lactose
Intolerance, opposed to Milk allergies and also explain why some people have
reactions to casien and whey, while others don't.
The food labels are very confusing. Lactose-free doesn't mean milk-free.
Also, I wanted to comment that I think I have seen "dairy-free" labels on
products that contain casien, but, I could be confusing this with "lactose-
free." I'll have to keep an eye out for that to be sure.
