<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Listmates - Thank you so much for responding to my email regarding my inability to take steroids for a terrible allergic reaction from exposures to herbicides or pesticides. Listed below are the suggestions I received. -several had recommended using Benadryl tablets and the topical cream. Since I had previously use the Benadryl tablets and the cream asked the pharmacist who previously maintained the glutenfreedrugs.com website for suggestions. He indicated several practitioners had prescribed Singulair, Accolate, and Zoflo – all brands are gluten free along with the generic versions. Pepcid (Famotidine) that I take and the Singulair are different types of H-2 histamine blockers. Also indicated Zrytec (second generation) is more of a long term allergy med where Benadryl (first generation) works a little quicker but with greater side effects. -told me about a friend who had an allergy reaction to cleaning products and the doctor suggested a shower every night and covering the body with Vaseline that seem to work. -taking Niacin B3 as an antihistamine. -suggested I move since my allergic reactions from chemicals are proof they are dangerous products giving people diseases like Parkinson’s and cancers. I have seriously considered this option and have checked into moving to a different area (selling my present house) but so far have not found a satisfactory location/house with the requirements I need. Plus purchasing a home or building is really, really expensive now but a possibility if I could find something that suit my needs (neighbors not using weed killer/etc) and budget. -check to see if I have a mast cell activation problem, find a functional medical doctor, use an air cleaner, and take aspirin since it is anti inflammatory. I had a allergist appointment on 10/18/21 and she indicated I did not have a problem with mast cell activation or dermatitis herpetiformis. -Chinese herbal supplement called Xanthium Relieve Surface used for poison oak/etc located on Amazon, Sovereign Silver First Aid Gel, Meta Care Healing Lotion by Keyes. Also try and find a good homeopathic doctor. -also heard from a couple of list mates that also experienced problems with steroids and hoped I could find an alternative. As I indicated had an appointment with an allergist on 10/18/21 and she is presently having me use the Pimecrolimus Cream 1% (suppresses the immune system and even suggested using Cyclosporine used for transplants if this does not work) along with the Zrytec 3 times a day along with Pepcid H2 blocker, and the antihistamine eye drop Pataday. My dermatologist had previously prescribed the Pimecrolimus cream 1% but was afraid to take something that suppresses my immune system especially with covid but the allergist indicated it would not affect the whole body just the areas that I was breaking out in. She also suggested I do an allergy test on my back to see exactly what I am allergic to besides chemicals (no test for that). Years ago I did the allergy test on the arm and it showed I was allergic to every thing and I actually became ill and had blisters from the areas they put the supposedly watered down allergens. Years before also had the allergy tests on my back so I am hesitant doing another allergy test. Again thank you for the thoughtful suggestions and the good wishes for my health. *Support summarization of posts, reply to the SENDER not the CELIAC List* Archives are at: Http://Listserv.icors.org/SCRIPTS/WA-ICORS.EXE?LIST=CELIAC
